College Admissions Consulting

Complete admissions consulting for first-year applicants, led personally by Angelika, UCLA graduate, J.D., Loyola Law School. She builds the strategy, runs the timeline, and coaches every piece of writing while the student keeps the pen.

The lead phase

Application strategy leads the work

Strategy means the application tells one story before anyone polishes a sentence. School list, positioning, timeline: those decisions come first, because every essay gets easier once they hold.

The list balances reach against likelihood against real preferences: cost, distance, programs, campus life. Positioning decides what the application leads with, so the activities, the essays, the recommendations all point the same direction.

Fit

Best for

  • Families who want one person guiding the whole process, first call to final submission.
  • Students who work best with structure: clear timelines, set checkpoints, steady accountability.
  • Applicants aiming at selective schools where positioning matters.
  • First-generation applicants who want the unwritten parts of the process made plain.
  • Law school applicants who want the same strategy-first approach.
  • Anyone staring at deadlines with no clear place to start.

Scope

What is included

  • School research plus a balanced, honest school list.
  • A working timeline with checkpoints for every application.
  • Positioning: the through-line the whole application argues.
  • Activities list refinement.
  • Essay brainstorming, then oversight through every supplement.
  • Draft reviews with written feedback.
  • Final reviews, submission support, interview preparation where needed.

Format

What you receive

Written feedback on every draft. Live working sessions on Zoom. Suggested edits arrive as tracked changes or comments, and the student decides what to accept.

Cadence

How we work together

Most engagements open with a Zoom session, especially when the student is starting from scratch. From there the loop is steady: the student drafts, Angelika reads plus comments, a session sets priorities, the student revises. Parents stay close to the strategy while the student owns the writing.

Terms

Revisions plus turnaround

Draft feedback typically returns within three to five business days. Revision rounds run as needed inside the plan; the discovery call sets the scope for your timeline.

Boundaries

What is not included

  • Writing any part of any essay or application. The student writes; that line never moves.
  • Guarantees. No consultant controls an admissions decision.
  • Completing forms, portals, or coursework on a student's behalf.

The Academic Integrity Policy holds the full list.

Pricing

  • Admissions consulting starts at [STARTING PRICE].
  • Hourly work runs [HOURLY RATE] per hour.
  • An exact quote follows the discovery call, scoped to your timeline plus workload.

Timing

When to start

A typical full engagement starts in the student's junior year. Compressed timelines still work when the pieces get sequenced tightly.

  1. Junior year, fall through spring

    Foundation

Grades carry the most weight, so coursework stays first. School research begins, along with a testing plan if tests are in the picture.

  2. Junior spring

    Strategy

The school list takes shape, the activities list gets an early draft, summer plans get set.

  3. Summer before senior year

    Drafting

Personal statement drafts start while the calendar is quiet. The Common App typically opens in early August.

  4. Senior fall

    Execution

Early application deadlines commonly land in October or November. Supplements, recommendations, the activities list all get finished here.

  5. Late fall into winter

    Submission

Regular decision deadlines commonly cluster around the turn of the year. Final reads, then submit, then confirm every receipt.

  6. Winter into spring

    Decisions

Offers arrive, aid packages get compared, the reply date lands in spring.

Every school sets its own dates. Confirm each deadline with each school before you build plans around it.

FAQ

Consulting questions

Do you work with law school applicants?

Yes. Law school candidates get the same strategy-first structure: school list, timeline, personal statement coaching. Mention law school in the intake form and the plan starts there.

What if we start senior fall?

Late starts are workable when the list is realistic and the calendar is honest. The first session sets a triage order; strategy still comes before polish.

Who does Angelika work with, the parent or the student?

Both, in different lanes. Strategy conversations usually include parents; drafting sessions belong to the student. Everyone sees the same plan.

Is essay help part of consulting?

Yes. Full engagements include essay coaching through the loop described on the Essay Coaching page; standalone essay help lives there too.
